Personal Label Apparel Design & Manufacturing
After working in the New York apparel industry since 1979, Julie Hutton began her Private Label business in 1990, servicing major retail clients including Macy’s, Saks and Bloomingdales. In 2008, the economy crashed leaving tens of thousands out of work. Julie began to get calls and emails asking if she could help start a small clothing line, or get a particular clothing item to market. These inquiries came from men and women all over the country that were out of work and thought they might try something new. Many had always wanted to be involved in the garment industry but didn’t have a clue as to how they might get started. Wanting to respond to all those inquiries by saying, “yes we can help you,” was the reason Personal Label was created.
We can manufacture a wide variety of garments because of the factories we work with. Each one has a specific skill set and part of our job is to choose the factory best suited to our clients’ needs. Some factories only do wovens. Some only knits. Some are good at athletic apparel, while others, embroidered gowns. We won’t sign a client unless we know we have a factory that can successfully manufacture their product. Most of our factories are located in New York City's historic Garment District.
